Joining a challenge on MoveTogether is simple. You will receive an invite link from a friend or colleague, simply click it to view the challenge details.

You'll be asked to Login with Strava. This secure authorization allows us to read your activities so we can award you points. Once connected, you're in! Every new compatible activity you upload to Strava will automatically count towards your challenge score.

2. Built on Strava

MoveTogether is powered by the world's leading fitness platform.

  • Use your favorite device: Garmin, Apple Watch, Wahoo, Zwift—anything that syncs to Strava works with MoveTogether.
  • No manual entry: Just record your activity as usual. We handle the rest.
  • Verified data: We use Strava's verified data to ensure fair competition.

3. Synchronization Explained

We use secure Webhooks to receive instant notifications from Strava whenever you upload an activity. You will also find a manual sync button in the app to sync your activities.

Sync Timing

Most activities appear on the leaderboard within 15 minutes of uploading to Strava.

Troubleshooting Sync:

  • Check that your activity privacy on Strava allows exposure (activities marked "Only You" might not sync. You need to set this up when you login on the Strava Authentification page).
  • Ensure the activity type matches the challenge rules (e.g., a "Yoga" session won't count in a "Running-only" challenge).

4. Scoring Rules

MoveTogether uses a simple scoring system to reward every effort. Challenge creators can customize these rules for their own challenges. Here is an example :

Activity TypeScoring Rule ExampleExample
Running & Walking5 points / km5km run = 25 points
Swimming35 points / km1km swim = 35 points
Cycling1 point / km50km ride = 50 points
Other (Yoga, CrossFit, etc.)25 points / hour1-hour session = 25 points

5. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Strava account to participate?

Yes, MoveTogether relies on Strava for activity tracking. You must have a valid Strava account and authorize our application to sync your activities.

How are points calculated?

Points are awarded based on distance or time. For example, Running earns 5 points per km, while Cycling earns 1 point per km. Time-based activities like Yoga earn 25 points per hour. Only the Creator of the challenge is allow to custom the scoring rules.

Can I join multiple challenges at once?

Absolutely! You can participate in as many public or private challenges as you like simultaneously. Your activities will count towards all active challenges.

Is my data private?

Privacy is our priority. Challenge participants can only see your aggregated scores and basic profile info within the context of the challenge. We do not display nor collect your exact GPS routes or private notes.

My activity isn't showing up, what should I do?

Activities usually sync automatically every 15 minutes. You can also trigger a manual sync from your dashboard. If your activity doesn't appear right away, it might be due to high network traffic, so please be patient and wait a few refresh cycles. If the issue persists for several hours, don't hesitate to contact our support team—we'll be happy to help!

How does the 'Together' Multiplier work?

Challenge creators can set a bonus multiplier for group activities! This bonus works for any activity type. To earn it, simply tag your workout partners on Strava and add a photo to your activity. As we cannot currently verify these details automatically via the API, we rely on the honor system. We trust our community to play fair and keep the spirit of the challenge alive!

What activities are supported?

We support almost all Strava activity types. Distance-based sports (Run, Ride, Swim, Walk, Hike, etc.) are scored by distance. All other sports (Yoga, Weight Training, CrossFit, etc.) are scored by duration.
